About Me

Lightening tree by Gail Yerrill

Starting life in 1973 with a pencil in my hand I have always loved drawing! Winning several art competitions growing up and awarded 2 places in the Cadbury’s touring art exhibition from 44,000 entries. During my foundation art diploma I came 3rd in a competition to design a poster for business for the Bedford Chamber of Commerce. It was during this foundation course I discovered a new love of textiles design and photography. Since finishing my degree in 2D Design I have been freelancing. For 12 years I freelanced at Tigerprint (for M&S) working mainly on Country Bunch and Fuzzy Teddy designing greetings cards, stationary and a set of ceramic items for the Queen's Golden Jubilee. I love illustrating characters, mainly working in watercolour, also using pattern and typography and have illustrated children’s books for Parragon, Macmillan, Little Tiger Press, Alligator books and more, also illustrating for Harrods and a simple animated story for the BBC.  I love travelling, walking, the odd glass of wine or three with friends, and musicals. I live in a peaceful rural village with my husband, 2 children and 2 cats which are continuously inspiring me!

My favourite illustrators are Jill Barklem, Beatrix Potter, Anita Jeram, Lauren Child, Kate Hindley and many more!!!
